Description:
A multisite qualitative study explored perspectives on competency-based feedback for training non-specialists to deliver psychological interventions, as part of the EQUIP competency-based approach. The research examined the effectiveness of using structured feedback to enhance the skills of non-specialists in delivering mental health care, focusing on low- and middle-income settings. Data were gathered through interviews and focus groups with trainees, supervisors, and program implementers across various sites. Findings highlight that competency-based feedback was crucial for improving the quality of care and building non-specialists' confidence, though challenges included adapting the feedback to local contexts and maintaining fidelity to intervention protocols. The study emphasizes the importance of tailored training and feedback mechanisms to strengthen non-specialist roles in mental health care delivery.
