Description:

Development of the BeFITS-MH measure, intended to assess barriers and facilitators in task-sharing mental health services, involved multiple steps including conceptual groundwork, Delphi consensus, translation, and local adaptation across three global sites. Continuous stakeholder engagement guided revisions to enhance contextual relevance, including adaptations to terms such as "program" and "provider type" to accommodate diverse intervention models and service settings. The measure was refined to improve its utility for assessing acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility, emphasizing actionable domains predictive of successful program uptake. This multi-step process highlights the importance of tailoring IS measures to both global standards and local contexts to maximize their impact and utility.
